The Sauté pan has a large cooking surface and short straight sides around 25% of the diameter of the pan. The large cooking surface provides considerable contact with the heat source and straight sides assist in retaining food items when tossed around in the pan, browning them evenly. A long, high handle allows the cook to agitate the pan for added movement. The French verb “sauter” means “to jump” -- and foods that are “sautéed” are literally “jumped around in the pan.” A lid allows the addition of liquids to sautéed items for a quick braising. Bulmers Gifts offer a great choice of Saute Pans from quality brands Woll and Scanpan.
