The Frypan is a flat-bottomed pan used for frying, searing, and browning foods. It is typically 200 to 300 mm in diameter with relatively low sides that flare outwards, a long handle, and no lid. Larger pans may have a small grab handle opposite the main handle. The Frypan is similar to the Sauté Pan with its large cooking surface and short sides. However, the Frypan has even shorter sides and they are sloped outwards to allow maximum dispersal of steam so food items fry “dry” for an optimally crisp surface.
